Full-Time Pre and Post Operative – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

 JOB SUMMARY  Utilizes the nursing process to provide nursing care from admission to discharge in the pre/post op and procedure areas under the direction of a registered nurse.

Reports To: Registered Nurses and Director of Nursing
Supervises: None
Shift: Full-Time
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

requirements):
1. Contributes to the assessment of the patient on admission and on a continuing basis.
2. Provides safe, therapeutic, and quality patient care in the pre-op, post-op, and procedure areas in a timely manner under the direction of the Registered Nurse utilizing nursing care standards.
3. Communicates appropriate information to Registered Nurse concerning patient care.
4. Documents patient care according to established emergency procedures for the Center and performs effectively in an emergency situation.
5. Follows proper procedures regarding blood and body precautions, handling of hazardous waste and sharps and sue of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: 
1. General clinical competency in ambulatory patient care setting
2. Computer experience and an understanding of medical terminology
3. Strong communication skills
4. Accuracy, attention to detail, timeliness, and organization skills
5. Attendance, punctuality, ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
6. Cooperative work attitude toward and with colleagues, management, patients, visitors, and physicians
7. Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, and general public
8. Ability to make decisions and solve problems
9. Respects patient’s right to privacy and dignity and maintains confidentiality of all Center and patient information.
10. Fosters a positive and professional environment by interacting with all persons in a considerate, helpful and courteous manner.
11. Assists in any area of the center and/or flexes work hours to meet the needs of the Center.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 
1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
2. Current and active Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) in good standing.
3. Current BLS, PALS and ACLS or obtain certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
1. Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
2. Visual and auditory acuity adequate for frequent use of computers, telephone and use of other office and/or medical equipment.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: 
1. Category III exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may encounter chemical hazards
