Full-Time Sterile Processing Technician (CSR Tech)

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and processing all instrumentation and patient use items.  
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (General requirements listed are not an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements) :
1. Have the knowledge and rationale for the utilization of the equipment. This includes sterilizers for hi-vacuum steam, sonic cleaner, biological readers, and washers.
2. Follow all policies for cleaning and disinfecting equipment in the decontamination area with appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
3. Properly rotate inventory and use the set PAR-levels as a guide for stocking the department. Assist with ordering implants and supplies to keep levels up to PAR level as established by the Materials Management Coordinator.
4. Communicate well with staff, including requests and follow-up if necessary.
5. Knowledgeable and rational use of physician preference cards.
6. Consistently utilize and follow the procedure cards and instrument count sheets for proper instrument tray assembly and for sterilization.
7. Follow all policies in performing biological testing for steam sterilization and maintain proper documentation.
8. Perform and maintain proper documentation of all daily checks of equipment in the sterile processing area.
9. Utilize appropriate wrapping techniques using disposable non-woven wrap and paper/plastic peel packing for instrumentation.
10. Assist in the cleaning and disinfecting procedures for all endoscopy equipment, as needed. 
11. Assist with documenting and tracking of all instruments.
12. Ensure that rounds are completed daily, and instruments are cleaned and restocked per procedure in all patient care areas.
13. Be extremely conscientious in the inspection and inventory of all rental trays and instruments before and after usage.
14. Have knowledge and follow daily, weekly, and monthly departmental cleaning procedures, including the cleaning of all sterilizers.
15. Have knowledge of utilizing one source for instructions for use for all instrumentation and equipment used in the facility.

1. Computer experience and an understanding of medical terminology

10. Assists in any area of the center and/or flexes work hours to meet the needs of the Center.    
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Current BLS or obtain certification  
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
2. Visual and auditory acuity adequate for frequent use of computers, telephone and use of other office and/or medical equipment.  
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE:
Category III exposure to blood borne pathogens and may encounter chemical hazards
